A random night last year, in a random bar in East London (I was there for research; ‘People Watching.’ Stop judging) I had a chat with another spoken word artist, about what’s next, who’s exciting that’s coming up, because if spoken word artists like anything, it’s what’s new. And Money.
After a couple of names were nodded on, disputed, worried over like they were our children or at the very least, our students, and outright dissed like their very act of art creation was a bad dream involving anuses and elephant feet, one of us (probably me) said ‘what about Paul Cree?’
My spoken word buddy breathed off an ‘ummmmmm’ and nodded. And for a moment, swear down, the wind stopped (it was windy) like LDN itself was in agreement.
