Rap Vs Poetry: Mark Grist Does Battle With Blizzard .

I have an love/hate relationship with rap battles: at its best it is wit boxing, the closest thing to sport we will ever get: word-smiths using their arsenal of wordplay, lycricsm and humour to decimate an opponent. At its worst, it’s two bald men fighting over a comb, each man bragging about how much hair he’s got whilst pointing out that his opponent is in fact, bald. With Ur Mom is /Ur a Peado/Ur Gay jokes thrown in.

So kudos to Don’t Flop for organising the best rap battle I’ve seen in yonks. Mark Grist is one talented half of the Dead Poets (along with Mixy). Blizzard is a seventeen year old overly talented rapper. Mark is a teacher. Blizzard says he hated school. Mark is old(er). Blizzard is a youngin. Mark wears a suit and carries a pint into battle like he’s about to give an interview. Blizzard does tantrum rap. Couldn’t have a better set up if you tried. Brilliant.

PS. Mom jokes/Gay jokes feature in this video, but they’re really funny, so there. ALSO: for an extra game, play ‘spot the poetical form used’ during Mark’s responses.
